Verse 14 begins with what seems to be a throw-away reference to Enoch being in the seventh generation from Adam. Although this is already alluded to in Genesis, apparently Judah is referencing an expanded understanding within the Book of Enoch, which he then immediately quotes from. It is possible that Judah mentions Enoch as being in the seventh generation to emphasize a sort of “Enochic lineage” for Yeshua, which was apparently common within early Jewish-believing circles, as explained by Peter
